White matter lesions (WML), a form of small-vessel cerebrovascular disease, and cognitive dysfunction (CD) are common in dialysis patients. (1, 2) Given the proposed role of microvascular disease on cognitive function (3), we hypothesized that prevalent WML would be associated with CD in maintenance haemodialysis (HD) patients. No studies have explored the relationship between WML and CD in these patients.
